What is a No-Bake Pie? Why Make No-Bake Pies for Pi Day?

If you’re feeling tired or simply don’t have time to make pies on Pi Day, I’ve included several no-bake pie recipes that you can make the day before. That way, you can pop those no-bake pies in your fridge and dig in on Pi Day just the same!

You might be wondering, what in the world is a no-bake pie? Well, a no-bake pie is exactly that– a pie you don’t actually have to bake! For a classic American apple pie, you’d normally have to bake the empty crust partially, then add your apples and top crust layer, and finally bake it again! These no-bake pies don’t require any oven time and are ridiculously easy to make. Try one out for yourself and you’ll see how easy it is to make a delicious pie for Pi Day (or any occasion)!

Without further ado, here are 18 Easy and Sensational Pies for Pi Day This Year!

18 Sensational Pies to Celebrate Pi Day This Year

1. Classic Apple Pie

Apple pie is unsurprisingly America’s favorite pie flavor! It only makes sense that it’s the first pie on this Pi Day pie list. There’s something that’s undeniably yummy about sweet cinnamon apples, a flaky buttery crust, and a cold scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top of that warm slice of apple pie. Oddly enough, I’ve even heard of some people putting a slice of cheese on top of their warm apple pie! Everyone has their preferences– do what makes you happy with your pie for Pi Day!

2. Homemade Cherry Pie

I can’t lie, I’ve never been a big fan of cherry flavor. It wasn’t until I made a homemade fresh cherry pie that I became a convert. That sickening artificial cherry flavor doesn’t even hold a candle to a homemade cherry pie made with fresh cherries, and there’s not a person in the world that can convince me otherwise! If you have the ability to make a scratch-made cherry pie for Pi Day, do it. You won’t regret that decision. Not a chance!

3. Mile-High Lemon Meringue Pie

Lemon meringue pie will always be one of my favorite pies. There’s something about that bright, tart lemon curd underneath that beautifully toasted, marshmallowy meringue that makes it so addicting. A perfect pie for Pi Day for those of us that love a nice sweet and sour combination!

4. Florida Key Lime Pie

Are you even Floridian if you don’t like key lime pie? This pie is the perfect pie for Pi Day! Aside from the deliciously tart flavor of key lime pie, it also only uses a few different ingredients. All you have to do is add them into a bowl, mix, and BOOM! Your key lime pie filling is ready to go into a graham cracker crust and be baked.

While there are no-bake key lime pie recipes that exist out there, I find that the best key lime pies I enjoy are the ones that are baked. There’s also a debate on the best topping for key lime pie is, since some people actually top their key lime pie with meringue instead of whipped cream! Personally, I’m team whipped cream, but that’s for you to decide your favorite topping.

5. Bright Blueberry Pie

Blueberry season is right around the corner! Aside from all of the other blueberry baking recipes you can find, this bright blueberry pie is a definite crowd-pleaser. The best blueberry pies incorporate just a touch of lemon zest and lemon juice to really enhance that blueberry flavor– keep that in mind next time you make a fruity pie for Pi Day!

6. Strawberry-Rhubarb Crumble Pie

Even though blueberry season is coming soon, strawberry season is actually happening right now! The Florida Strawberry Festival is a rather popular event here in Florida every February, particularly because Plant City, Florida is a big strawberry producer.

One well-known pairing of strawberries is rhubarb! You might be wondering, what even is rhubarb? Rhubarb looks a lot like a pink piece of celery… that’s probably the best way to describe its appearance. Generally, rhubarb tastes better cooked than raw because it will give you the chance to add sugar. It has a naturally tart flavor, which is why it pairs so nicely with sweet strawberries! Overall, this combination makes an excellent pie for Pi Day.

7. Old-Fashioned Pecan Pie

Old-fashioned pecan pie is a classic Fall-flavored pie, but who says you can’t make pecan pie for Pi Day? My family has always loved pecan pie! The combination of toasted pecans, a gooey sugary filling, and a flaky butter crust to complete it. It genuinely tastes like you’re eating a pecan candy bar. Try it out and see what you think!

8. Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Another one off of the Fall-flavored list of classics, this pumpkin pie is simply perfect! I get it, not everyone likes pumpkin pie. But how do they not like how creamy that sweet pumpkin filling is? Or how perfectly it pairs with a flaky pie crust? Pumpkin pie will always be my favorite kind of pie, which makes it the perfect pie for Pi Day. Who says you have to wait for Thanksgiving to enjoy a slice of pumpkin pie?

9. Sweet Southern Buttermilk Pie

Out of all of these baked pies on this list so far, if you’re like me, this buttermilk pie is what you’re most unfamiliar with. Buttermilk pie is made out of the pantry staples– sugar, eggs, flour. It tastes a lot like a layer of custard on top of a pie shell, which is probably why it tastes so good for something so simple!

Buttermilk pie is often confused with chess pie, but there is a slight difference between the two. Buttermilk pie, as it states in the name, uses buttermilk in its recipe; chess pie on the other hand does not! If you only have the basic pantry staples on hand, I would definitely make this Southern buttermilk pie for Pi Day.

Oreo Dream Pie is just one of those desserts that you’ll have to get a second slice of– it’s actually addicting. My sister made this no-bake Oreo pie for the first time not too long ago, and it didn’t even last a day in our house. Since then, the infamous Oreo Dream Pie has made occasional appearances, but never lasts very long in our house. It’s the perfect pie to make ahead of time, and enjoy later. That’s what makes this one of the best pies for Pi Day.

14. No-Bake Toasted Coconut Cream Pie

There’s no better smell than the smell of freshly toasted coconut coming out of the oven. The sweet fragrant smell makes you want to eat it, even if you don’t like shredded coconut. I didn’t like coconut at all when I started my first big time pastry job and I ended up falling in love with the smell.

This coconut cream pie is a no-bake recipe, uses those addicting golden Oreos for the crust, and is finished with sweetened whipped cream and a sprinkle of toasted coconut shreds. If you’re a coconut fan, you’ll have to try this easy coconut cream pie as one of your pies for Pi Day.

16. No-Bake Millionaire Pie

This is one no-bake pie that I’d genuinely never heard before– this is a millionaire pie. A household favorite growing up in my family was always my grandmother’s ambrosia salad. If you’ve never had ambrosia, it’s a fluffy combination of fruit cocktail fruits, vanilla pudding, mini marshmallows, and whipped cream mixed up in a bowl. This millionaire pie is essentially that delicious ambrosia salad set in a graham cracker crust and topped with extra whipped cream and maraschino cherries for decoration. This millionaire pie recipe will only take 20 minutes to make which makes it a serious contender out of this list of pies for Pi Day.

Just four ingredients! If you’re looking for a recipe that’s quick and can be thrown together in 15 minutes or less, this lemon cream pie is your answer.

18. No-Bake Rich Nutella Oreo Pie

I can remember making this Nutella Pie back when I was in high school. One of my classmates had written the recipe for this pie, Nutella was in absolutely everything back then (and still is now honestly), and I was obsessed. Similar to the other no-bake pies on this list, this nutella mousse pie has only five ingredients and can be made in a flash!

Another great feature of this Nutella pie recipe is the incorporation of a chocolate Oreo crust. The Nutella filling is rich and smooth, and the perfect contrast to that crunchy Oreo crust. It’s sure to be a favorite of the pies for Pi Day!
